Palestine in numbers
فلسطين بالأرقام
Every figure here carries its source and its date. Numbers move as records update, and different methods of counting give different answers — so the method is named too.
Each card opens the page that holds the methodology. A number you cannot trace to a method is a number you should not repeat.
The people
الناسWho Palestinians are, and how many were displaced to make the present arrangement.
Gaza since October 2023
غزّةDifferent methods give different numbers. All of them are here, with the method named — a count of bodies identified is not the same measurement as a household survey.
The occupation in law
القانونWhat courts and the UN have actually found — as distinct from what is asserted about them.
The culture
الثقافةThe measurable part of a living culture — the part that is still being made.
How to read these
A count is not an estimate
A list of named, identified dead and a statistical estimate of total deaths measure different things. Both are on this page, labelled. They are not competing claims.
A date is part of the figure
Every number here is as of a stated date. Quoting one without its date turns a measurement into a claim, and it will be out of date the week after you use it.
Nothing here is the whole picture
These are the things that happen to be countable. The registry and the testimonies hold what counting leaves out.
