The record, in four parts
The derivative
FALASTEEN retained the complete sixty-second source picture in its original shot order, added a four-second source card and a six-second rights card, removed the source audio and transcoded VP8/WebM picture to H.264/MP4. The resulting film runs 70.12 seconds and contains no replacement music, voice-over or imitation ambience.1
The visible record
The sequence moves from a street beside a tall concrete barrier into stone lanes, a children’s football game, a vaulted arcade, an open plaza, the Dome of the Rock and prayer interiors. A timed written visual record describes the sequence without assigning names or exact streets that the source does not provide.12
What this packet does not claim
This is an open-licence source film made from Neollene Films footage. FALASTEEN did not film or commission the sequence and does not identify the people who appear in it.13
Removing the source audio does not mean the Commons original was silent. The original contains audio; the derivative omits it because every sound within that track was not independently identified.1
The licence permits reuse under its terms. It does not create a partnership, assignment or endorsement by Neollene Films.41
Reading connections
