Zarnuqa

Zarnuqa was a citrus village of 2,380 ringed on every side by fruit trees watered from its own wells, with a clinic, two schools and a Saturday market that drew merchants from Jaffa, Lydda and Ramla. The Giv'ati Brigade occupied it on 27 May 1948 during Operation Barak; a letter published in the Mapam newspaper 'Al ha-Mishmar described the killing of an old man, an old woman and a child, and the expulsion of the rest toward Yibna. The village was destroyed outright that June.
