Tarbikha stood on a plateau twenty-seven kilometres from Acre with two mosques, a school of 120 pupils, a customs office and a border police post, and a Cultural Reform Association founded in 1945. Its people were Shia Muslims, as in the villages across the Lebanese border. The Oded Brigade entered it in the second week of November 1948 and ordered its people into Lebanon; the History of the War of Independence records no resistance, and Moshe Carmel told Ben-Gurion his forces had been forced for military reasons to expel them. About twenty of its houses are lived in today by the residents of Moshav Shomera.
