Saris stood on a plateau above the Jaffa–Jerusalem highway, 560 people in 1945, close enough to the coast to see Ramla and Lydda from its edge. A Haganah force destroyed it in the middle of April 1948, at the end of Operation Nachshon; the settlement of Shoresh was inaugurated on its land the same year.
