Qatra

Qatra — the Hellenistic Kidron, called Qatrat Islam under the Mandate to distinguish it from the Jewish fort beside it — was a village of 1,210 on limestone ground a kilometer south of Wadi al-Sarar. The Giv'ati Brigade surrounded it on 6 May 1948 and demanded its weapons; Benny Morris records looting, arrests, and the rest of the villagers intimidated or ordered out within days. Only the school and a few deserted houses remain.
