Qannir

Qannir stood on slightly raised ground in the bilad al-rawha' thirty-five kilometres from Haifa, a village of 750 people living by grain, vegetables and cattle. It was attacked three times in a single week in early March 1948; Filastin reported the third attack, on 5 March, driven back by the village's national guard contingent. Benny Morris says the villagers fled on 25 April under the influence of the offensive against Haifa, but Fawzi al-Qawuqji's dispatches record an armoured assault at four in the morning on 8 May that was resisted and repelled. When Haganah forces actually entered is not established.
