Mi'ar

Mi'ar stood on a rocky hill at the eastern tip of the Acre plain, seventeen and a half kilometres from the city, and had already been dynamited once — by two British battalions on 26 October 1938, during the Great Revolt. It was rebuilt. Ilan Pappé records that on 20 June 1948 Israeli troops entered the village, shot at its people as they worked their fields and killed forty; the survivors returned and stayed until the Seventh Brigade reoccupied Mi'ar in mid-July during Operation Dekel. Its refugees live in Kabul, Sha'ab and 'Arraba in quarters named Mi'ari after the village.
