Karatiyya
كَرَتِيّا
Karatiyya — the Crusaders' Galatie, taken by Salah al-Din, where the Mamluk sultan camped in 1299 on his way to fight the Mongols — was a rainfed grain village of 1,370 with a mill and two wells. The Giv'ati and Armored brigades stormed it on the night of 17–18 July 1948, hours before the second truce; an Egyptian counterattack reached its outskirts. A destroyed cemetery among eucalyptus is what is left.
