Farradiyya

Al-Farradiyya stood on the southern slope of Mount Zabud eight kilometres from Safad, and held a model experimental farm of 300 dunums with an arboretum of 2,000 plants, run by a Palestinian agronomist trained at Montpellier, that bred fruit varieties and advised the farmers of two subdistricts. It was surrounded rather than assaulted in Operation Hiram on 30 October 1948, so many of its people stayed. On 15 December the Committee for Transferring Arabs from Place to Place endorsed a proposal to expel the 261 who remained there and at Kafr 'Inan; it was carried out in February 1949.
