Jerusalem districtDepopulated 1948

Dayr al-Shaykh was a village of 220 people at the foot of Mt Shaykh Badr, with a railway station half a kilometre to the east and the shrine of al-Shaykh Sultan Badr at its heart. The Har'el Brigade took it around 21 October 1948. The shrine still stands, and is now an Israeli tourist site.
