Bayt Tima

Bayt Tima, twenty-one kilometers from Gaza, held 1,060 people and shared its school with Kawkaba and Hulayqat. Its defenders drove off a Zionist infiltration in February 1948 and it stayed in Arab hands through both truces; aerial and artillery bombardment in mid-October emptied much of it, and the Giv'ati Brigade took it on 18–19 October during Operation Yoav. No Israeli settlement stands on its land; sycamore and carob grow around the rubble.
