Barrat Qisarya

Barrat Qisarya — "outside of Qisarya" — stood on sandy flat ground three kilometres from the sea beside the ruins of Roman Caesarea, a village of the semi-nomadic Arab al-Turkman with 960 Arab inhabitants in 1944/45. Ilan Pappé writes that it was wiped out in February 1948 in an attack so sudden that historians on both sides call its disappearance enigmatic. Khalidi's survey carries no occupation section for it at all. The town of Or 'Aqiva now covers the ground.
