Al-Zuq al-Tahtani

Al-Zuq al-Tahtani — the lower Zuq, distinguished from al-Zuq al-Fawqani above it — stood on a hill with Mount Hermon in view to the northeast, thirty kilometres from Safad, its 1,050 people working water-powered mills and 5,547 dunums of irrigated fruit. An Israeli report of 1948 said the villagers left on 11 May under the impact of the fall of Safad; Morris, who quotes it, does not say whether there was an attack or when troops entered. One house remains, in use as an office for an airstrip.
