Al-Qubab — 'the domes,' for the dome-shaped hills it was built on — stood on the north side of the Ramla–Jerusalem highway, 1,980 people living from grain, vegetables, fruit and livestock. Accounts of its fall differ by three weeks: 15 May 1948 in the New York Times and in Morris, early June in the Israeli official history. In September it was one of fourteen villages Ben-Gurion sought permission to destroy; the school still stands.
