Al-Nabi Rubin

النبي رُوبِين

Ramla districtDepopulated 1948

Al-Nabi Rubin, on the south bank of the Rubin river three kilometers from the sea, held the shrine of the prophet Rubin and the mawsim that ran from July to September — one of the two great pilgrimage seasons of Palestine, with dabka, dhikr, horse races, poets and a cinema beside the shrine. Its 1,420 people were expelled on 1 June 1948, three days before Yibna. The shrine and its minaret still stand among the shrubs.
