Al-Manshiyya (Acre)

Al-Manshiyya stood on the plain northeast of Acre, beside the al-Basha canal, with 810 Arab residents recorded in 1944/45, a mosque, an Islamic orphanage and the Shrine of Baha' Allah. Indirect evidence places its occupation at the opening of Operation Ben-Ami on 14 May 1948; by 16 June its destruction was already under way. Khalidi's 1992 survey recorded the shrine, mosque, orphanage, cemetery, canal and a few houses within Acre's expansion.
