Al-'Abbasiyya
العَبّاسِيَّة
Al-'Abbasiyya — al-Yahudiyya until its people renamed it in 1932 — was the largest village east of Jaffa, 5,650 people with a stone mosque, a twenty-one-meter minaret and the biggest village school in the subdistrict. The Irgun raided it on 13 December 1947, occupied it on 4 May 1948, lost it to an Arab counterattack, and Israeli forces took it back on 10 July during Operation Dani. Yehud and Ben-Gurion airport stand on its land; the mosque and the shrine of al-Nabi Huda still stand on the site.
